Joye McAvoy-Sinn
CPGA Teaching Professional
 
 

Before becoming a CPGA Teaching Professional, Joye played competitive golf as an amateur.  During her career she won the Ontario Junior Championship twice, the Ontario Amateur Championship and the Ontario Amateur Match Play.  She consistently ranked in the top 3 nationally and in 1988 was ranked the Number 1 Amateur in Canada.  In 1986 she received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Miami, Florida.  At the NCAA Championships she finished 6th and 7th individually and her team finished 2nd, 3rd and 9th overall.  In 1988 Joye became the first female golfer at the University of Miami to be selected as an All-American and Academic All-American in the same season.  She graduated cum laude in Finance (BBA).


After graduating university Joye turned professional and joined the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association (CPGA). She continued to play competitively and finished 2nd and 3rd in the CPGA National Ladies Championship and won the Ontario Ladies Professional Championship.  In 1997 she was voted Southwestern Ontario Lady Professional of the Year.  As a coach,  Joye was involved with the Ontario Ladies Training Program where she instructed elite Ontario junior, amateur and senior golfers.  She received instructional training from Mike Bender who was ranked as one of the Top Five Greatest Teachers in America by Golf Digest in 2011.  In 2002 Joye was inducted into the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame.


Today Joye teaches at the Silver Tee Golf Centre.  She gives private lessons year round and runs clinics for both adults and juniors. During the winter she continues to teach at Silver Tee on the indoor simulators and at the Dominion Golf Dome.  With her past competitive experience, years of teaching and training she is able to help golfers of all abilities improve their games and increase their enjoyment of the sport. 

 

Joye McAvoy-Sinn is one of Windsor/Essex County’s premier teaching professionals.  She has been a member of the CPGA since 1990 and has dedicated her career to teaching golfers of all ages and abilities.
